I am going to deal with Night Clubs and entertainment houses.
1. Palladium (Bandstand/party rentals also showcased ‘DJ Rex Lawson Bulldog’ later became Independence and ended up as Basula. (B.A. Osula) (Nightclub/Disco and Bandstand.
2. Edugie (Night club and Bandstand and DJ ‘Rex lawson bulldog’) behind New Nigerian Bank Mission Road. Later became (Popis Corner owned then by Mr Obiyan (carrier airconditioners)
3.Hotel De Gabana (owned and managed then by Otiti Mrs Ayewor) along Akpakpava (Ikpoba road)
4. Noruwa Green Hotel (Bandstand) along Igun street.
5. Central Hotel (Bandstand)
6.Moonlight Club (members only)
7.City Belles ( Night club/Disco and Bandstand)
8.Brodericks Inn (Nightclub/Disco and Bandstand)
9. Sweet Sixteen later became Bagatelle and ended up as Lisa Mona (Night club/Disco and Bandstand)
10. So fine (Night club and Disco) Ring road.
11. Genesis (Nightclub/disco)
12. New Langar (Nightclub/Disco) GRA
13. Mr A. (Owned then by Austin Momodu) later became Club 2000 (Nightclub/Disco) GRA
14. Asterisk (Nightclub/Disco) off Upper Sakponba road, Saint Saviors. Was owned and managed by late Mr Guobadia, English lecturer.
15.The Limit (Nightclub/Disco) off Sapele road
16. His & Her(s) Upper Erumwunsee street.
17.Mogambo Hotel (Bandstand) corner of 2nd Eastcircular and Ikpoba slope. Operated in the 1960s before the Civil war.
18. Bins Hotel (Lodging and Nightclub/Disco)
19.Hotel Sambio Safari owned and operated by late Mrs Dorgu. Dax Dorgu’s mother.
20. Bos Groove Along 3rd East Circular road owned and managed by Late Mrs Egbo. Raymond Egbo’s mom.
21.Sharp operated on the last floor of Palm House (Nightclub/Disco managed by Sam formerly at Plaza.
22. Motel Benin Plaza Lodging, Disco/Nightclub
23. Hexagon Nightclub/Disco.
Added the missing ones.
24. Cute Fellows Night club/Disco along Wire road not far from Triangle Avenue. Owned by Taiwo Edokpayi Pastor. That was before he became born again. He was a well traveled Businessman.
25. Jazz club next door to Cute Fellows was run by Andy&Jerry
26. Stars Night club opposite Uselu Shell was owned by the Ize-Iyamu family.
27.Chrisbo Hotel (Bandstand) owned and was managed by Madam Christy Boyo. The back opposite 1st Circular cemetery.
28. Nova Guest house (Nightclub/Disco) along Sapele road.
29.Vineyard was a classic drinking and get together place, was managed then by Ik Ekhaguere. Located near Golf course road near Benin Club.
30. Edray hotel owned managed by the Family of Edigin of Usé. Light dancing and Groove took place there too.
31. Camp David, Mile 4 (Old Benin-Sapele road) was managed by Late ‘Archie Moore’ Iyamu. Fresh Palmwine was the regular drink with Bush meat pepper soup and all smoke free zone. The regular there then were late Loveday Okundaye and late Lanky Ehanire.
32. Gbalaka Spot (‘tight your teeth’) that was the slogan from late Allan Bruce owner and CEO. It was a place where ‘certain people meet certain people’ It was a smoke free zone no harassment. A little brothel was run on the side for quick pleasure. His good friend in the early stages was Henry ‘mustang’ the other guy ‘Phoenix disco’ he had a Toyota Celica.
33. Memories Nightclub/Disco of later days owned and operated by Oladokun partnering with Jerry.
34. Jackson Hotel, later acquired by Mr&Mrs Offiah and later changed the name to Victory Hotel along Victory road at the corner of New Lagos road by the moat. It is still very functioary till today now being managed by their great son with great business acumen Mr. Emmanuel Offiah born and brought up in Benin.
35.Anthony’s Jazz Club FGGC Road Ugbowo

37. Prest Airport Motel And Casino Prest Jazz Club , Airport Road . Owned by Tony Prest
